Input Devices
Introduction:  A mouse is a GUI,( graphical user interface,) pointing device. For selecting any point on the screen  it is moved, and this movement and direction of the movement is directed by two rotating wheels on the underside of the mouse. It requires flat surface of its movement and the wheels have their axes at right angles. Each wheel is connected to the shaft encoder which emits electrical pulses for every displacement of the wheel. The pulses transmitted by the mouse determine the distance traveled. A mouse has two or three buttons which we can press to initiate some action.                             Now a days, according to use of mouse can be classified as:  optical mouse Laser mouse, Wheel mouse, Mechanical mouse,
Air mouse, Wireless mouse, etc.
                                                              optical mouse:

, Laser mouse

, Wheel mouse

, Mechanical mouse,

Air mouse

, Wireless mouse,

Uses: Mouse has become an important part of the graphical user interface environment and is basically used for pointing the icon and for drawing pictures by dragging them on the flat surface they have removed the limitation of traditional command-oriented operating system and have paved the way for convenience and easy handling in computing.                                                                                                                                                                                         Joystick

Joystick is another online device where the movement of the cursor on screen can be made faster than the keyboard. A stick is   tucked onto a keyboard. A stick is socketed onto a board as shown in figure. As we move the stick around in the  socket , the movements are translated into binary instructions with the help of electrical contacts in the base of joystick.
When the moment of firing comes  a button provided at the base is pressed, that sets of explosive pattern on dots on the screen.
                                                     Trackballs

Trackball is also a pointing device and contains a ball that can rotate in any direction.

The user rotates the ball in different directions to move the cursor on the CRT screen.
It contains a connected electronic circuit that detects the direction and speed of rotation,                       and this information is sent to the processor.
